Grupo Belov joined the international World Cleanup Day movement and supported three initiatives that took place last Saturday (20). Teams in Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, and Maranhão united their efforts to make the action even more significant for the corporation, the environment, and nearby communities.
Organized by the NGO Let's Do It World, the "World Cleanup Day" has been happening for a few years but only became part of the United Nations calendar last year. In 2025, the chosen date was September 21, and more than 190 countries confirmed their participation. In addition to direct support in their areas of influence, Grupo Belov enabled the voluntary organization of employees and partners. The event reaffirmed the company's commitment to sustainability and the preservation of marine ecosystems and green spaces, as well as promoting interaction among people and institutions.
In Bahia, 71 volunteers mobilized by Grupo Belov collected 1,200 kilograms of waste along a 700-meter stretch of shoreline at Capadócia Beach in Mapele (Simões Filho). The materials included paper, metal, plastics, glass, tires, and even large items like washing machines, televisions, and fishing traps. A team also used 6 liters of chlorine in areas of water accumulation, helping to combat the proliferation of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
Children, adults, employees and former employees, family members, Mapele residents, representatives from the municipal government, community leaders, fishermen, shellfish gatherers, beach vendors, and service providers turned the event into a true community integration. They shared a breakfast and enjoyed moments of music, dancing, and fun, along with a special prize drawing and educational talks. RETEC, a partner in the action, provided a truck, two 5m³ dumpsters, and three volunteers free of charge, in addition to ensuring the proper disposal of the waste at a licensed Class II landfill.
Partnerships were also key to World Cleanup Day in São Luís, Maranhão, where Belov Group is part of the Special Purpose Company responsible for the construction of Berço 98. Organized by the Port of Itaqui, the initiative in the city embraced Praça da Família (Family Square) in the Bonfim neighborhood, bringing together participants from various companies. In addition to volunteers, the company provided latex gloves and garbage bags, which were essential for collecting and storing the waste.
In Rio de Janeiro, 68 volunteers gathered again at Piedade Pier in the municipality of Magé. The location is 64 km from the capital (and approximately 29 km from Belov Group's offshore support base) and is frequently visited thanks to its kiosks, boardwalk, and the view of Guanabara Bay. This year, the cleanup lasted 20 minutes along a 300-meter stretch and had the support of the municipal government to collect a total of 330 kg of waste, consisting mainly of various types of plastic, ropes, and cardboard. In total, the amount of waste collected across the three locations totaled more than 1.5 tons, surpassing last year's collection.
