The P-78 is an FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading) unit installed in December 2025 at the Búzios 6 project, located in the Búzios Field – Santos Basin, off the coast of São Paulo. With the capacity to produce up to 180,000 barrels of oil per day and compress 7.2 million $m^3$ of gas daily, the unit joins others in the complex and will contribute to production in one of the primary assets of the Brazilian pre-salt layer.
This is one of the largest offshore projects in the country, encompassing 13 oil wells, and demanding discipline, preparation, and technical capability. During the subsea commissioning operations of the P-78 (Image: Petrobras), the Belov Group diving team participated in a strategic stage for its entry into operation within the complex.
According to information released by Petrobras, the company adopted a sailing strategy with the crew on board to enable the start of production to be brought forward by approximately two weeks, compared to the traditional model of stopping in sheltered waters. The plan involved transporting the unit from the shipyard where it was assembled in a manned condition, allowing the commissioning process and crew training to continue, thereby reducing the total time between its arrival in the basin and the start of oil production. Upon arrival, anchoring and interconnection services between the platform and the producing oil wells were performed.
The Belov Group received recognition from Petrobras for its commitment to operational safety, discipline in executing activities, and the integration among the teams involved in the operation.
