The Belov Group held the keel laying ceremony for the vessel SDSV Belov Arembepe on Monday, August 17, 2026. The event took place at 11:00 AM at the Belov Shipyard, in Aratu Bay, with the participation of directors, the production team, and invited guests.

Construction of the SDSV Belov Arembepe began in February, with an estimated completion time of 18 months. It is part of a project with proven efficiency, featuring operational updates implemented based on experience from more recent offshore operations. This is the fourth SDSV (Shallow Dive Support Vessel) in the corporation's fleet, and the third of its type built at the Belov Shipyard. The new vessel secured R$ 115 million in financing from the Merchant Marine Fund (FMM) and will be operated under Petrobras contracts starting in the second half of 2027.

In shipbuilding, the keel laying ceremony is a traditional event that symbolizes the birth of the vessel. The other parts of the main structure stem from the keel. Since vessels are now predominantly built using blocks, the keel laying is materialized when these blocks are joined together to form the boat's main structure.

The Keel Laying of the SDSV Belov Arembepe was attended by representatives of the Brazilian Navy, the Federal Government, Robert Allan Ltd., and RINA, as well as partners, financial organizations, and guests. Present at the ceremony were the Minister of Ports and Airports, Tomé Franca; the president of Codeba (Dock Company of the State of Bahia - Port Authority), Antonio Gobbo; the mayor of Simões Filho, Devaldo Soares; the president of Aiba (Farmers and Irrigators Association of Bahia), Moisés Schmidt; Bruno Ribeiro, superintendent of Caixa Econômica Federal; Belov Group directors Sergio Belov, Juracy Vilas-Bôas, André Weber Carneiro, and Luiz Alberto Sant’Ana; as well as managers, coordinators, supervisors, and employees from the Belov Shipyard and representatives of the naval chain.

The Vessel

Belov Arembepe is an SDSV, a special type of vessel developed for offshore support operations. The design is identical to two other vessels in the fleet, Belov Humaitá and Belov Amaralina, both Robert Allan RAlly 4000 models.

It measures 40.50 meters in length, 10.98 meters in molded beam, 3.85 meters in molded depth, and 2.88 meters in draft. The vessel was designed to operate with four 565 kW generators (and one 96 kW emergency generator), three 520 kW waterjets, and three 150 kW tunnel thrusters. The vessel will carry classification from the RINA Classification Society.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the vessel will be used for inspection and maintenance services on Petrobras offshore platforms, or those contracted by it. The new vessel symbolizes a step forward for the Brazilian naval industry by reaffirming the Belov Shipyard's position as a benchmark in the development of high-tech maritime solutions committed to safety, quality, and innovation.
