Aleixo Belov Completes Siberia Expedition – The Northeast Passage

After nearly 11 months at sea, Aleixo Belov and his crew have arrived in the capital of Bahia aboard the training sailing vessel Fraternidade. This marks the sixth circumnavigation for the navigator, diver, and businessman. The journey began on April 12, 2025, and concluded this past Saturday, February 28, via the Northeast Passage in the Siberian Arctic—one of the most challenging navigation routes in the world.

The festive reception took place at the 2nd Naval District in the Comércio district of Salvador, Bahia. The event brought together family, friends, authorities, the nautical community, and a large crowd of supporters. Vice-Admiral Gustavo Calero Garriga highlighted the historical significance of this latest expedition for Brazilian navigation: Aleixo Belov is now the only Brazilian to have completed both the Northwest and Northeast Passages, an unprecedented feat for a sailing vessel from the Americas. The celebration featured a performance by the Marujada band, a photography exhibition, and the premiere of the official documentary film of the Northeast Passage expedition.

In addition to the honors received, Belov moved the audience by sharing experiences and lessons on discipline, resilience, and the lifelong learning gained from his travels. He also emphasized the success and growth of his business ventures, which require special dedication and attention during his long absences. The entrepreneur praised the directors of the Belov Group for their leadership while he was away and expressed his satisfaction in returning to find the company stronger and more consolidated than ever. This November, the corporation will celebrate its 45th anniversary.

Aleixo Belov’s extensive collection of travel artifacts and records is open to the public at the Aleixo Belov Sea Museum (Museu do Mar Aleixo Belov), located in the Santo Antônio Além do Carmo neighborhood in Salvador.
